Wild Night
What?
Wild Night is a new British Columbia wildlife filmmaking and storytellers social event. A place where professionals can come together to share adventures, laugh, and get to know other natural history artists and specialists. Read the below points, register your interest using the form at the end, and we'll let you know when details are finalized.
Why?
British Columbia has an incredible resource of professional natural history storytellers. Whether you tell stories for a conservation organization, broadcast television, theatres, or social media, we all have the same goal - to make people connect with nature in an emotional and compelling way. Working better together begins with fostering relationships, and Wild Night is an attempt to get brilliant people in one place for a fun evening.
How?
While a few drinks may be on the cards, the idea is much more simple - people hanging out talking. No panels, pitching, speakers, screenings or politics. Just like minded people getting to know each other.
When?
The exact date is still to be confirmed and largely depends on the amount of people that register - which will dictate venue availability. January is the most likely month - kicking the new year off in a genuinely positive way.
Where?
Campbell River. While it may be a little way for mainland dwellers, and those from Victoria to travel to, Campbell River really is a gateway to an abundance of wildlife. It's a natural meeting point of stunning landscapes, rich seas, and converging wildlife. The final venue will be determined by the amount of interest, so don't forget to register below. If you need a place to stay there are plenty of hotels in the area that are very affordable at this time of year, and you may even find a couch to crash on.
Who?
This event is for existing wildlife storytelling professionals. It is not a networking event for people looking to break into the industry. You might work for a production company, be a conservation storyteller, a freelance photographer, cinematographer, sound recordist, director, specialist boat operator, or even a social media influencer telling wildlife stories. There are lots of us around, with many different areas of expertise. Space may be limited though, so register sooner rather than later. This is meant to be a fun, no pressure social event - so if you're looking for work, or to pitch your newest idea, this isn't the place.
How much?
That depends on the level of interest and the size of the venue required. This is not a profit making endeavour - any ticket prices will be used to cover the cost of the event, and nothing more. We aim to keep the cost as minimum as possible, maybe even free. Final details will be shared once we have a clearer picture on numbers.
Thanks for reading, hope to see you there!

Is that image made using AI? Nah. It's actually a real image captured at an undisclosed location where wildlife thrives in an underground network of bars and clubs.
